Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) is seeking a full-time HR & Safety Specialist located at our Administration Office in Salem, Oregon. This individual will work in collaboration with the People, Programs, and Services team. The successful candidate will possess critical attention to detail, maintain a high standard of confidential and professional conduct, ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction, and be self-starter with demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills.
Desired Knowledge and Skills
- HR Expertise & Project Management: Strong knowledge of HR principles, project management, and process improvement strategies, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage timelines, and drive successful implementation of HR programs and policies.
- Investigative Skills: Proficiency in investigative techniques, best practices, and evidence gathering.
- Occupational Safety & Compliance: Knowledge of OSHA regulations, occupational safety standards, and best practices in workplace health and safety, including data collection, investigations, program evaluation, policy creation and oversee safety committee.
- Workers’ Compensation & Return-to-Work Programs: Experience monitoring claims and ensuring timely, accurate completion of accident and incident reports.
- Policy Development & Communication: Ability to develop and clearly communicate personnel policies and procedures that align with agency goals and ensure employee understanding.
- Employee & Manager Support: Experience in a highly visible role providing safety-related guidance to managers and employees.
- HRIS System Support (Paycom): Technical support, troubleshooting, and customer service for employees and AICs.
- Detail-Oriented: Highly organized and meticulous, ensuring consistency and accuracy in all tasks.
- Professional Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
- Administrative Proficiency: Experience with office practices, including scheduling, proofreading, record-keeping, logistics support, and proficiency with computers and office equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four (4) years of experience that include duties working with Workers’ Compensation loss prevention, the return to work of injured employees, occupational health and wellness programs, and safety oversight.
OR
- One (1) year of experience that include duties working with Workers’ Compensation loss prevention, the return to work of injured employees, occupational health and wellness programs, and safety oversight AND a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field, including Chemistry, Engineering, Public Health, and Environmental Health.
AND
- Pass an initial and annual Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) criminal background check
- Pass pre-employment drug screening
